After a bit of a maneuvering, the teeth were able to grab the metal ridges on the key and it popped right out. It helped that I was able to do in the warmer climes of my living room. Funny how people look at you while you go at a bike lock with hammer, chisel, pliers, etc. Eventually a bike guy came along with a killer set of tweezers, and I was able to pick the broken bit out of the lock, then use my spare to free my machine. Then again, that's the easy way, taken more than a few too many times in Amsterdam, and especially Utrecht.
